Program Mission

The mission of San Diego's "6 to 6" Extended School Day Program is:

  • To provide a safe place where children can have fun and learn new skills while in a supervised setting;
  • To provide academic enrichment and homework assistance; and
  • To provide arts, crafts, recreation, and sports activities.

Copley Family YMCA partners with SDUSD to open community schools before and after normal school hours to provide a safe place for elementary and middle school-aged children and youth.  Children participating in the program have a safe place to experience academic enrichment and recreational activities during the hours that their parents are at work.  The program's aim is to provide access to high quality, affordable enrichment programs before and after school to every child in the City of San Diego.

The Copley Family YMCA serves approximately 850 children daily in the program.  This program is FREE OF CHARGE.
