Mission Moment

Kimberly has been swimming and participating in other youth programs such as Tae Kwon Do and Day Camp, at the YMCA since she was a toddler. She has an infectious smile and a positive attitude. She is a swim coach’s dream athlete! Every practice she gives her all and works hard to hone her swim skills. At eight years old, she is the youngest swimmer on our growing Copley swim team, but consistently finishes in the top seeds of her age bracket at area swim meets. Her parents are devoted to the YMCA and have worked hard to spearhead a parent booster club for the team and rally other parents, and even attract other swimmers to be a part of the Sea Dragons swim team. Kimberly participated in the Summer Championships where she obtained 3 gold medals. She also participated in the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Program where she was able to jump off a 30 foot bridge into the water. You’d never know while speaking or watching Kimberly swim that she is a child with autism. Her joyous personality shines through and the gains that she has made physically, socially, and mentally here at the YMCA are precious to her parents and friends. Kimberly is only one of the many talented youth who participate in YMCA programming here at Copley.
